Plan Development

The Florida Strategic Plan for Economic Development builds on a strong partnership of public, private, and civic organizations. It defines goals, objectives, and strategies to move Florida toward its economic vision. Consistent with Florida Statute 20.60, the Plan was developed by the FloridaCommerce in partnership with Workforce Florida, Inc., and the Executive Office of the Governor, and with input from more than 3,000 Floridians.

Throughout 2011 and 2012, the Department of Economic Opportunity’s Division of Economic Development conducted regional forums to gather insights related to the creation of Florida’s Strategic Plan for Economic DevelopmentThe purpose of the forums was to review and prioritize goals, objectives and strategies for implementation by state government that would assist Florida’s regions with economic development and job creation. Job creation partners and planners from local governments; local and regional economic development organizations; other local, state, federal, and international community and economic development entities; workforce and talent development entities; the business community; educational institutions; and others from the public participated in the forums and were invaluable in the Plan’s development.
