Due to across-the-board spending cuts required by the Federal Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act (commonly referred to as sequestration), the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) will eliminate the Mass Layoff Statistics Program (MLS) effective June 30th, 2013.  The first quarter 2013 publication of MLS data for Florida will be the last of the series.

The Mass Layoff Statistics (MLS) program collects information on large layoff events.

Quarterly MLS data include those employers where 50 or more workers were separated from their jobs for at least 31 days. Only private sector nonfarm employees are included.

Geographic Coverage: Statewide.
Frequency: Quarterly
