REMINDER: Application Deadline for $20 Million Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program

Jan 02, 2020

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) is reminding technical centers, educational institutions and local workforce development boards in eligible communities that the deadline to submit applications for the Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program is Friday, January 10, at 5:00 p.m. EST. This program has $20 million available for applications to use to train Floridians in the construction trades necessary to support disaster recovery efforts.

The Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program is another critical step in the recovery of our state. This program allows educational and workforce partners to train Floridians in some of the most-in-demand industries that will provide individuals an opportunity to rebuild their community and create a better future for themselves,” said Ken Lawson, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. “I encourage everyone who has started work on applications for this unique funding opportunity to submit them before the deadline.”

DEO, through the Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program, has made $20 million in funding available to local workforce development boards, educational institutions and technical centers located in the communities most-impacted by Hurricane Irma. The funding may be used to launch or expand training programs for construction trades including roofing, masonry, carpentry, concrete finishing, plumbing, HVAC, electricity, heavy equipment operations, carpet laying, window installation, plastering, welding and more.

Additional information about the Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program, including the Request For Applications is available on the program webpage.
