Florida Black Business Loan Program Notice of Application Period

The Black Business Loan Program Application Period for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 shall open to all applicants on May 1, 2020 through June 1, 2020, pursuant to Rule 73C-1.001(2), Florida Administrative Code. Applicants must submit all information as required by section 288.7102, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 73C-1, Florida Administrative Code, to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity by 5 p.m. on June 1, 2020. Please submit all required documents to the following address:

Community Service Block Grant, Low-Income House Energy Assistance Program and Weatherization Assistance Program

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity will conduct a public hearing for public comment regarding the development of the updated funding formula for the Community Service Block Grant, Low-Income House Energy Assistance Program and Weatherization Assistance Program on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. To fulfill the mission of each program, it is necessary to update to the formulas based on more recent data to ensure the equitable distribution of funds and to address the needs of low-income Floridians.

Weatherization Assistance Program

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity will conduct a meeting to receive public comment regarding the Request for Application’s top scoring applicant(s) from the Request for Applications seeking a public or nonprofit entity to administer the Weatherization Assistance Program in Orange County and the Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan for Program Year 2020-21. The Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan for Program Year 2020-21 will be submitted to the United States Department of Energy on Friday, May 1, 2020.

Office of the Inspector General

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is undergoing an assessment by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) to maintain state-level accreditation. A team with the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will conduct an on-site assessment of the DEO OIG on March 12, 2019. As part of the assessment, employees of the DEO and the public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. An accreditation assessment examines all aspects of OIG’s Internal Investigations Section, including looking at policies and procedures, management, operations and support services.

DEO employees and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. A copy of the accreditation standards is available through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation’s website at www.flaccreditation.org. Comments can also be submitted through writing and sent to: Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida 32302, Email: flaccreditation@fdle.state.fl.us.

Once the Commission's assessors complete their review of OIG, they report to the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation who will determine if OIG maintains accreditation. Participation in the accreditation process is voluntary and, if granted, will be for a three-year period.
