The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Announces the West Palm Beach Area June 2020 Employment Data

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced the West Palm Beach area private-sector employment decreased by 53,700 jobs (-9.4 percent) over the year. The West Palm Beach area’s unemployment rate was 10.4 percent in June, up 6.9 percentage points from one year ago.

The industry losing the most jobs over the year was leisure and hospitality (-21,300 jobs). 

Statewide, the number of private-sector jobs increased 292,800, up 4.2 percent from May 2020.  Florida’s unemployment rate decreased to 10.4 percent in June 2020.  Florida’s labor force was up 143,000 over the month.
