Gov. Scott Attends Ribbon Cutting of JetSmarter Office in Fort Lauderdale

Sep 23, 2016

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for JetSmarter’s new office in Ft. Lauderdale and highlighted their recent job creation. Governor Scott announced their expansion during a trade mission to the Farnborough International Air Show in London earlier this summer. Over the last 18 months, JetSmarter has added over 100 jobs in the South Florida area.

Governor Scott said, “It was great to announce at the Farnborough International Air Show that JetSmarter is rapidly growing. Thanks to our low tax and business-friendly environment, aviation and aerospace companies are major job creators in our state. We will continue to encourage businesses to create more opportunities for our families so Florida can become a global destination for jobs.”

In 2013, JetSmarter was created by Sergey Petrossov in South Florida. Over the past three years the company has expanded globally, offering private jet services in more than 170 countries. JetSmarter allows users to charter a jet from any location around the world via mobile app, offering travelers access to the largest private jet marketplace. The company offers services including JetCharter, JetShuttles and JetDeals, and operates from offices in London, Dubai, Zurich, Moscow, Riyadh and Hong Kong.

Sergey Petrossov, JetSmarter CEO, said, “It is an honor to be recognized in our company’s hometown of Fort Lauderdale, for not only our rapid growth, but for providing jobs to the local, surrounding community. We appreciate the support from Governor Scott and his team, and we look forward to continuing to expand our corporate headquarters through 2017 and beyond.”

Florida is home to one of the nation’s largest aerospace and aviation industries (2,000+ companies), and has long been a major hub for flight training and MRO. Florida’s valuable industry assets include 22 airports with runways of 10,000+ feet and a full range of industry activities, from R&D, to testing and service.

Crystal Sircy, COO and Executive Vice President of Enterprise Florida, said, “I want to congratulate JetSmarter on their growth and thank them for continuing to invest in their home state. Florida’s aviation industry is growing and changing the industry, thanks to leaders like JetSmarter, and we look forward to watching their continued success in South Florida.”

Partners in the expansion include Enterprise Florida, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, CareerSource Broward and the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Cissy Proctor, Executive Director of the Department of Economic Opportunity, said, “As a globally competitive company, I am pleased that JetSmarter recognized the ability of Florida’s existing aerospace industry and strong business climate to meet its expansion needs.”

Mason Jackson, CEO of CareerSource Broward said, "CareerSource Broward is proud to partner in supporting the growth of JetSmarter. We're glad the company has chosen to expand at home in Broward County."

Fort Lauderdale Mayor John P. “Jack” Seiler said, “We’re extremely excited that JetSmarter is making such a significant investment in our City. Bringing more job opportunities to Fort Lauderdale is a reflection of our City’s strong economy and robust business climate that includes having the lowest unemployment rate in South Florida, 75 straight months of job growth, and one of the highest demands for jobs in the state.  We look forward to the continued growth and success of this innovative company which is redefining aviation transportation.”

Bob Swindell, President and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, said, “Congratulations to JetSmarter on its expansion in Fort Lauderdale. JetSmarter has leveraged technology to improve the way people access private aviation and has seamlessly integrated these two powerhouse industries in Greater Fort Lauderdale.
