Florida Defense Cybersecurity Training Program

 

The Florida Defense Cybersecurity Training Program (F-DCTP) provides funding and assistance for Florida Defense Contractors to comply with the DFARS and NIST 800-171 Standards for cybersecurity. The program which provides funding and resources for companies to comply with these cybersecurity standard is funded by the Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) through the FloridaCommerce and is being is being facilitated by the FL Manufacturing Extension Partner (MEP), FloridaMakes.

 

Defense spending in Florida generates approximately $95 billion in total economic impacts. This spending supports nearly 915,000 jobs throughout the state of Florida. The F-DCTP program will help our state’s contractors comply with the Federal regulations necessary to continue providing services to the Federal Government.

 

Program Goals

  • Strengthen Florida’s Defense Supply Chain
  • Provide Resources for compliance with the NIST 800-171 and DFARS Requirements and the new CMMC Standards

February 9-10, 2021 | Jacksonville and held Virtually

On Thursday, December 10th, FloridaCommerce held the 1st of 9 Cybersecurity Training “Boot Camps” as part of their Florida Defense Cybersecurity Training Program to assist Florida businesses in the defense industries as they seek to become compliant with the Department of Defense’s new regulations for cybersecurity.  FloridaCommerce and their partner, FloridaMakes held a full-day virtual cybersecurity training session for over 100 attendees that assisted small and medium-sized defense contractors from Florida’s rural areas as well as from across the state. 

With more than $16.5 billion spent annually in directly contracted defense procurement across Florida, and more than $95 billion in total annual economic impact from the military and defense presence in our state, supporting our warfighters is critical to Florida’s economic health as well as our national security. The DoD is ramping up its focus on cybersecurity for its supply chain, manufacturers and defense contractors of all types who will all need to take specific steps to protect their networks if they want to continue doing business with DoD.
