Description: The purpose of this training sessions is to provide an educational forum on the Veterans’ Program services in the One-Stop Career Center delivery system. To accomplish this, the National Veterans’ Training Institute (NVTI) has agreed to cover their “Job Coaching for Offender Populations” materials on the first day of training. Veterans’ programmatic training will be provided by DEO staff on the second day of training.

Suggested Audience: DVOP and LVER staff from workforce regions 20 through 24 should plan to attend this training. Registering a Customer in Adobe Connect

Description of the training/meeting: During this session, staff will learn how to request to have a staff member with the Regional Workforce Board (RWB) entered in the Adobe Connect learning management system. Attendees will learn what to expect to receive back from the Training Coordination Unit with the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), as well as how to communicate the information back to the new trainee. This session is a very brief webinar, lasting less than 30 minutes.

Proctoring a Tier One Exam

Description of the training/meeting: During this session, we will discuss how to register a staff member for the Tier One Certificate Exam. This includes 1) how to request access to the Tier One Certificate Exam for a trainee; 2) how to sign into the Tier One Certificate Exam with the trainee; 3) the administration form that should be reviewed with the trainee the day of the Tier One Certificate Exam and retained on file; and 4) the process of completing the exam. This session will include information about the software tips and tricks.

Making Tier One a Success

Description of the training/meeting: During this session, we will offer recommendations on how to make the Tier One Exam process successful. This includes best practices for engaging trainees in a plan of action to study materials in an organized manner, as well as prepare with other staff to further develop a sense of teamwork. The process includes preparing the staff member for the test in a manner that is fun and relaxing to defuse test anxiety. This session is short but meaningful. Having a plan is actually less work than not having a plan: join us!

Using the Tier One Report

Description of the training/meeting: During this brief session, we will discuss the information provided on the Tier One Monthly Curriculum Report and ways in which the information can be utilized to help staff prepare for the Tier One Certificate Exam. The goal is to help staff take the exam and be successful. If the information found in the report indicates that trainees may not be successful when taking the Tier One Certificate Exam, Training Coordinators can use this to prompt staff to study the materials more effectively.
