Florida Department of Economic Opportunity CDBG - Mitigation State Action Plan Public Comment Period Closes Monday

Jan 16, 2020

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) is reminding Floridians that the 45-day public comment period is closing on Monday, January 20, at 5:00 p.m. for the draft State Action Plan for the $633 million in federal funding available to Florida through the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program.

After the public comment period closes, DEO will finalize the State Action Plan before submitting to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for approval. HUD will then have 60 days to review the State Action Plan after it is submitted on February 3, 2020.

“I would like to thank our federal, state and local partners who provided feedback and assistance as we drafted our State Action Plan.  Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, we have collaborated and developed a plan that will allow communities impacted by disasters to utilize the funding needed to make the necessary investments that will make Florida more resilient to future storms,” said Ken Lawson, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. “We would like to encourage anyone who has not yet reviewed the plan and provided feedback to do so as soon as possible.”

The State Action Plan provides a high-level strategy for how the funding will be used to address eligible communities’ disaster mitigation needs. Development of the State Action Plan has involved significant input from state agency partners and local governments, as well as the public through seven public workshops hosted across the state, statewide webinars and an online survey of community priorities.

Comments may be submitted by email to CDBG-MIT@deo.myflorida.com or by mail to:
