Governor Crist Appoints Chairman, Board Members to
Workforce Florida Board of Directors

TALLAHASSEE—A catalyst for developing a world-class workforce, Workforce Florida Inc.’s efforts are more relevant now than ever and Governor Charlie Crist’s new appointments to the Board of Directors, including the selection of Belinda Keiser as Chairman, will help Florida meet today’s challenges as well as those on the horizon.

Workforce Florida President Chris Hart IV today applauded Governor Crist’s decision to name Keiser as Chairman, along with appointments and reappointments of seven other business leaders and a nursing educator/advocate to the board. Keiser is vice chancellor of community relations and student advancement at Keiser University. She will lead her first board meeting as Chairman on May 28.

“Governor Crist’s appointments affirm his continued commitment to developing a workforce that will make Florida a global leader,” said Hart. “Workforce Florida’s board is dedicated to ensuring Florida’s businesses and workers have the resources they need to compete in this 21st Century economy. I know Chairman Keiser and each of the new and continuing board members are eager to carry forward our mission.”

Keiser, who was first appointed to the Workforce Florida board in 2005 and named Vice Chair in 2007, brings a strong background in education, workforce and government affairs to her new role. In 2004, she served on then Lieutenant Governor Toni Jennings’ Career Education Study Task Force. She also is a past board member of WorkForce One in Broward County, one of the 24 regional workforce boards responsible for delivering workforce services to people and businesses in Florida.

“I am honored by this appointment by Governor Crist, a true champion for Florida, and I look forward to serving among so many outstanding members as Chairman of this dynamic board,” said Keiser. “We will work diligently to maintain Florida’s record of achievement as a national workforce leader by responding quickly and effectively to the needs of our businesses and citizens while advancing the state’s long-term economic development priorities.”
