Florida Job Demand Remains High in April

May 12, 2015

TALLAHASSEE - The number of online job openings in Florida were up over the year in April 2015, with a total of 284,444 unique openings (seasonally adjusted), according to data released by The Conference Board’s Help Wanted OnLine.  These figures from Help Wanted OnLine are the highest April for job demand in the data series, which began in May 2005.

Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Executive Director Jesse Panuccio said, “Florida’s economy continues to grow and demand for employees remains high. Opportunities are out there and the state’s workforce continues to grow. Our goal in the Scott Administration is that any Floridian who wants a job can get a job.”

Job demand in Florida increased over the year by 20,684 openings, up 7.8 percent.  Major occupational groups with the most online ads in February were healthcare practitioners and technical occupations, sales and related occupations, office and administrative support occupations, and computer and mathematical occupations.  Online job demand was highest in the large metro cities, led by Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Fort Lauderdale.

This April also brought the news of another month of positive job growth, high job demand, and a major milestone for the state’s economy – Florida officially set an all-time high for private-sector jobs in the state.  In other words, the state has gained back all of the private-sector jobs that were lost during the recession.
