STATEMENT FROM AGENCY FOR WORKFORCE INNOVATION DIRECTOR CYNTHIA R. LORENZO IN RECOGNITION OF NURSES WEEK IN FLORIDA

TALLAHASSEE – “In support of Governor Rick Scott’s proclamation recognizing May 6 – 12, 2011 as Nurses’ Week in Florida, I’m pleased to offer my sincere appreciation to the more than 322,000 registered, advanced practice and practical nurses licensed in our state.

“According to statistics maintained by our agency’s Labor Market Statistics Center, nursing will have some of the largest numbers of new jobs of any occupation in Florida over the next eight years. There are approximately 15,755 current openings for registered nurses in the state. These careers pay an average of more than $63,000 for RNs and $40,000 for LPNs annually, making them excellent choices for caring, committed Floridians looking to train for or transition to a rewarding, high-paying career in demand.”

An equal opportunity employer/program.  Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
