The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Announces the West Palm Beach Area November 2020 Employment Data

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced that Statewide, the number of private-sector jobs increased 9,800, up 0.1 percent from October 2020.  Florida’s unemployment rate was 6.4 percent in November 2020.  Florida’s labor force was up 49,000 (+0.5 percent) over the month.

The West Palm Beach area private-sector employment decreased by 39,900 jobs (-6.9 percent) over the year. The West Palm Beach area’s unemployment rate was 6.1 percent in November.

The industry losing the most jobs over the year was leisure and hospitality (-17,800 jobs).  Construction was the only major industry to gain jobs over the year in November 2020 (+200 jobs).
