“We are seeing a tsunami of fraud,” said the executive director of Florida's Department of Economic Opportunity Jesse Panuccio.

It’s so serious Panuccio wrote to the U.S. Labor secretary warning that “organized criminal enterprises" are attacking public benefit systems daily.

Florida insists it has a state-of-the-art system to detect fraud.

During the last year and half, Florida stopped more than 100,000 fraudulent claims worth $452 million.

But crooks still manage to find ways around the system, which is why Panuccio is pushing the feds for more resources to combat this problem.
