Carrabelle (Franklin County) - Designated: 2007

Located along "Florida's Forgotten Coast" in Franklin County, Carrabelle is surrounded by the Carrabelle River, the Crooked River, the Ochlockonee River, and the Gulf of Mexico. Originally chartered in 1893, Carrabelle thrived for more than a century on commercial seafood, shipping and tourism. Its quaint downtown stretches along a bend in the Carrabelle River, where one can still witness working shrimp boats unloading or visitors fishing from the municipal pier.
