ABOUT THE EVERGLADES TRAINING PROGRAM
As the workforce needs of our state change, opportunities for new skills training for residents is important to maintain and to grow our communities. The Everglades Training Program is designed to meet these changing workforce training needs. The Florida Legislature created and funded the Everglades Training Program to provide tuition grants and employer-based grants for nonagricultural occupational training.
Businesses can apply for employer-based grants to fund nonagricultural occupational training. Funds may be used to cover curriculum development, cost of hiring instructors, materials, equipment, overhead costs and administrative costs directly associated with new and existing training programs. Priority of funding will be given to businesses in Hendry and Palm Beach counties. Second priority will be given to businesses in Collier, Glades, Highlands and Okeechobee counties.
Private or public technical or vocational schools can apply for tuition grants on behalf of eligible students for training in nonagricultural occupations. Tuition grants can cover cost of attendance including tuition and fees, equipment, supplies, books and other fees directly associated with participation and completion of the training program. Students are eligible if they are United States citizens or non-citizens whose status permits employment in the U.S. and if they have resided in Hendry or Palm Beach counties for at least three years between 2013-2018.
If you are a student interested in the Everglades Training Program, please contact your school to find out if they are eligible.
